Name and Logo creation…

It was the best part of a concept development when we have stated to work on Name and Logo. Artyom (@artyoms) and I (@albertpoghosyan) have started to think about name of the product as well as the whole team joined us later. As it was the most innovative idea for web system we were starting to create, we had to keep thinking in innovative and creative way too.And frankly speaking, that seemed to be the most difficult part of it. With the development of system’s concept we were much faster to generate ideas or even to produce detailed descriptions rather than with name. It was slowly moving all the time.

First we were trying simply to shuffle with names and check the ones with www.whois.net but after couple of days we understood it is not going to work. So simply, it was tags that we have set to limit the number of options and we have moved forward only after that. We were naming the project 24 hours per day sending sms with new names even at night times. Our best friend was www.domain.com where you can check multiple domains at once and eventually we got the following domains options selected:

  • iconig.com
  • abetag.com
  • ricktag.com
  • beetag.com
  • beetag.me
  • abbme.com
  • amusme.com
  • egotales.com
  • gerego.com
  • nihego.com
  • enzvis.com
  • vizuz.com
  • vizgy.com
  • egocen.com
  • egozavr.com

We end up with some small number of examples and then competitions stated!

    1. 1. yutego.com
    2. 2. utego.com
    3. 3. youtego.com
    4. 4. egotego.com
    5. 5. egocent.com

We have done blind pooling, then open polling, then we have got smaller number of examples from which we have excluded youtego.com at first. But eventually after long thinking both of us and team became sure which one is the best! And you already know which one won in hard competition.

And only then we have gone for logo.

We have settled the design requirements for designers and they stating to complain that we have gave them too much freedom. The first visual association for the logo has been stabled to be the following:

  • Simple, Open, Natural environment;
  • Representing shared interconnected atmosphere with shared values and mutual understanding;
  • The planet type thing, where users feel that this is a new planet, galaxy to live in;
  • A place were true emotions, interests are shared;
  • Comfortable and secure colors;

And the examples were the followings:

4568109111213

And only after 5th iteration we came closer to what we were willing to get.

31

7

14

And eventually the final one has been selected here!

It was hard way to do, but we have done it and it’s look like we have done it very good.
